Gerald W. Rydberg 1940 - 2002

Gerald W. Rydberg, 61, Minot, died Saturday, August 3, 2002, in a Minot nursing home.

He was born September 20, 1940, in Silva, ND, the son of Berthil and Evelyn (Zimmerman) Rydberg. He was reared and educated in Minot.

He entered the United States Navy on March 23, 1959 serving during peacetime. He was honorably discharged on January 21, 1963.

After his discharge from the navy Gerald went to work for Westlie Motor Company in Minot. Later he moved to Renton, WA where he worked for Boeing Manufacturing. He also worked construction and drove truck for Allied Trucking. He retired from trucking do to a disability and returned to Minot in 1997. He was once married to Bonnie Jacobsen.

Gerald was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars in Minot and he was also active with the Eagles Aerie in Vancouver, WA. He loved to travel and spent many winters in Arizona. Gerald also enjoyed fishing and camping.

Survivors: daughter, Terri Rydberg and her fiancé David Standefer, Socorro, NM; son, Jerry Rydberg, San Diego, CA; granddaughter, Melissa Rydberg, Minot; brothers, Bert Jr. Rydberg, Kenmare, ND, and James Rydberg, Vancouver, WA; sisters, Arline (Larry) Peacock, Minot, Alice Compton, Minot, Loretta (Alfred) Rewald, Chaplain, MN, and Sonja (Jody) Dickhaut, St. Peter, MO; numerous nieces and nephews also survive. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Joseph.

Memorial Service: Friday, August 16, 2002, at 1 p.m. at the Thompson-Larson funeral Home, Minot

Visitation: Thursday, August 15, 2002, from Noon until 7 p.m. at the Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Minot

Burial: Rosehill Memorial Park, Minot
