Sidona Ryan, 83, Minot, ND, passed away Wednesday, April 9, 2008, at Trinity Homes, Minot.

Sidona Celina Holter was born May 6, 1924, the daughter of Arthur and Celina (St. Croix) Holter on farm near Norma, ND. She was raised and educated in the Norma/Tolley, ND areas until moving with her family to Portland, ND, in 1936. She graduated from Clifford High School, Clifford, ND, in 1941.

Following her high school graduation, she moved out to Seattle, WA, to work in the shipyards as a riveter for a short time before returning to North Dakota. She moved back to the Norma and Kenmare, ND, area in 1945. She was once married to Henry Mayers.

Sidona was married to Richard J. Ryan January 25, 1949, in Minot. They made their home in Kenmare, ND, for a couple of years before moving back to Minot. She was employed by St. Joseph's Hospital in Minot as a physical therapy assistant for over 20 years and had received the Freddy Meyer Award for her excellent service in the 1980s. Richard passed away March 6, 1990. Sidona continued to reside in Minot since her husband's death. In May of 2007, she moved into Edgewood Vista in Minot. She then moved into Emerald Court for short time before moving into Trinity Homes in Minot.

She was an active member of Immanuel Baptist Church, Minot, and its ladies aid group.

She enjoyed reading, fishing, cooking, and baking, especially for the holidays. She loved spending time with her family and looked forward to family gatherings. She was the type of person who enjoyed helping others.

Her loving family includes: son and daughter-in-law, Tim and Virginia Ryan, Elk River, MN; daughter and son-in-law, Marlene and David Dodge, Vancouver, WA; daughter-in-law, Barbara Ryan, Bismarck; grandchildren, Pauline (Ramon) Perez; Angela (Brad) Beaver, James (Angela) Ryan, and Keith (Missy) Ryan; and Jerome (Bethany) Ryan; 12 great-grandchildren; sisters, Joy (Harold) Storseth, Vista, CA, and Vivian Solberg, Hinckley, MN; brothers, Odean (Ann) Holter, Bismarck, ND, Wallace Holter, Minot, Glen (Phyllis) Holter, Minot, Sidney (Joyce) Holter, El Sabrante, CA, and Delvin (Diane) Holter, Bend, OR; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Sidona was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Richard; son, Rick; grandson, Shannon Ryan; infant granddaughter, Tracy Ryan; brother, Donovan Holter; brother-in-law, Walter Solberg; and sister-in-law, Gladys Holter.

Funeral: Saturday, April 12, 2008, at 11:00 a.m. at Immanuel Baptist Church, Minot.

Interment: Sunset Memorial Gardens, Minot, ND.

Visitation: Friday from 2 to 7 p.m. at Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Minot.

Prayer Service: Friday at 7 p.m. at Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Minot.
