William Rutter 1910 - 2002

William Rutter, 92, Edgewood Vista, Minot, died Thursday, October 31, 2002, in a Minot hospital.

William "Willie" Rutter was born February 26, 1910, in Turtle Lake, ND, the son of Edward and Matilda (Severson) Rutter. He was raised and educated in the Ruso area.

Bill married Irma Thompson on March 14, 1940. They lived in San Diego, CA, Turtle Lake and Drake, ND. He worked as a mechanic most of his life. Beekeeping was a hobby of his; becoming a fulltime business in his later years. After Irma's death in October 1979, he married Ruth McCarty on June 21, 1981. They resided on the farm near Drake until August 2000, when they moved to Minot. Ruth died September 24, 2001.

Bill was active in the Baptist churches in Turtle Lake, Drake and Kief and was currently a member of Immanuel Baptist Church, Minot. His faith in the Lord Jesus Christ and his promise of eternal life sustained him through the years.

Survivors: Daughters, Elaine (Myron) McCarty, New Hope, MN, Donna (John) Shekleton, Nashua, NH, and Ione Wilkening, Sigourney, IA; step-daughter, Peggy (Ron) Kruschwitz, St. Paul, MN; step-sons, Ronald (Jean) McCarty, Crosby, Lynn (Myra) McCarty, Maxbass, Jay (Barb) McCarty, West Fargo, Wayne (Connie) McCarty, West Concord, MN, Roger (Marcia) McCarty, Sioux Falls, SD, Galen (Sandy) McCarty, Manhatten, KS, Joel (Becky) McCarty, Grinnell, IA; seven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; 26 step grandchildren; ten step great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews also survive. He was preceded in death by his wives, Irma Rutter and Ruth McCarty Rutter, parents, four brothers, one sister, and son-in-law, Terry Wilkening.

Funeral: Monday, November 4, 2002, at 1:00 p.m., at Immanuel Baptist Church, Minot, ND.

Visitation: Sunday, November 3, 2002, from 1:00 to 5:00 p.m., at Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Minot.

Burial: Monday at 3:30 p.m., at the Drake Cemetery, Drake, ND.

Officiant: Rev. Ken Schneider

Music: John Shekleton, soloist, "No One Ever Cared Like Jesus" and Lola Holznagel, soloist, "It Is No Secret" Congregational hymns, "Great Is Thy Faithfulness" and "Trust and Obey" Elizabeth Roberts, pianist.
