Ole Running 1926 - 2008

Ole Running, 82, rural Makoti, died Wednesday, December 24, 2008 in his home.

Ole was born on June 28, 1926, a son Peter and Petra (Ruten) Running on the family farm near Makoti, ND. He went to Linton Township Country School and worked for many area farmers. He lived in the Makoti and Minot areas until he married Darlene Mahowald on February 24, 1961.
He began working on local construction crews and assisted in the building of the Garrison Dam. He was employed at Minot State College for many years.

He and his family lived in the Surrey area until he retired to the family farm north of Makoti in 1988. He was a life long farmer at heart and couldn't seem to leave the farm. He was a hard worker who was very independent right up until the time of his death.

He is survived by:
Son: Randy (Cindy) Running, Wilmington, OH, daughters Anita (Brent "Bud") Nettleton, Burlington, Carol (Jerome) DeMars, Milaca, MN, Jennie (Terry) Aasand, Mandan, ND; grandchildren: Rio Boehm, Spencer, Corby and Wyatt Running, Cassandra Nettleton, Grant, Dustin and Elizabeth DeMars, Miranda Running, Nick and Grant Aasand: brother Iver Running, St. Cloud, MN. Numerous nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Darlene, two sons Ole and Kelly, grandchildren Brandon and Ashley Nettleton, sisters Chelfred Winters and Jennie Larson.

Visitation: Monday, December 29, 2008 from noon until 6 pm at Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Minot

Funeral Service: Tuesday, December 30, 2008 at 10:30 am at Peace Lutheran Church, Burlington

Burial: Tuesday at 1:30 at Rosehill Memorial Park, Minot

Immediately following the funeral service, everyone is invited to join the family in the fellowship hall of the church for lunch and fellowship.

Those wishing to attend the graveside service are asked to meet at Rosehill Memorial Park at 1:30 for final prayers.

The Running family would like to thank everyone for the many acts of kindness shown to them during this difficult time. Your thoughts and prayers are greatly appreciated and will never be forgotten. May God bless the memory of Ole.
