Darlene S. Mahowald Running 1938 - 2003

Darlene S. Mahowald Running, 64, Minot, died Saturday, May 24, 2003, at a Minot hospital.

Darlene S. Mahowald was born on October 22, 1938, on a farm west of Garrison, ND, the daughter of Otto and Kathryn (Blakslee) Mahowald. She was raised in the Garrison area and attended Crystal Country School. In 1958, Darlene graduated from Garrison High School and then attended the St. Francis School of Nursing in Bismarck.

On February 24, 1961, she married Ole Running in Minot. The couple lived in the Minot area until 1967, when they moved to Surrey. Darlene was employed as a cook/waitress in many area restaurants until retiring due to ill health in 1998. Darlene then moved to Minot and in August of 2002 she entered Trinity Homes where she lived until her death.

She was a member of St. Nicholas Catholic Church, Garrison.

Darlene was a very loving mother, sister, grandmother, aunt and friend of all. She spent much of her time waiting on others and caring for those who needed extra attention. She will be extremely missed by her family and those who have shared-in and touched her life.

Survivors: husband, Ole, Makoti; son, Randy Running (Cindy), Wilmington, OH; daughters, Anita Nettleton (Brent), Burlington, ND, Carol DeMars (Jerome), Milaca, MN and Jennie Aasand (Terry), Mandan, ND; grandchildren, Rio Boehm, Spencer, Corby and Wyatt Running, Cassandra and Ashley Nettleton; Grant, Dustin and Elizabeth DeMars, Miranda Running and Nicholaus and Grant Aasand; sisters, Maryann McDonald (Thomas), Minot and Karen Burner (Ronald), Lansford, ND; special family member, niece, Sandra Burner (Bruce), Burlington. Numerous nieces and nephews also survive. She was preceded in death by two sons, Ole and Kelly Running, grandson, Brandon Nettleton, her parents and brother, Gerald Mahowald.

Mass of Christian Burial: Tuesday, May 27, 2003, at 10 a.m. at Trinity Homes, Minot.

Rosary Recitation: Monday, May 26, 2003 at 7 p.m. at the Thompson-Larson Funeral Home Chapel, Minot.

Visitation: Monday, May 26, 2003, from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. at the funeral home.

Burial: Rosehill Memorial Park, Minot. Burial will take place at Noon.
