Evelyn Magdalen Rovig 1911 - 2002 Evelyn Magdalen Rovig, 91, Minot, died Friday, August 30, 2002, in a Minot nursing care facility. She was born on June 3, 1911, on her father's farm in Afton Township, Ward County, south of Minot, to Jacob and Katherina (Knipp) Frost. Her mother died when she was 6 years old. She lived with her older brother, William Frost, for a time, as well as Lena Walsh, her older sister. She attended Frost School, which her father was instrumental in organizing, and later graduated from Minot High School in 1929. She worked for the Ward County Independent for a time. She married Orville L. Rovig on February 27, 1938, in Minot. They farmed and raised their family in Burt and Afton Townships, Ward County, their entire married lives. They moved from the farm into Minot in 1977. Orville died on October 2, 1983. She later moved to the Henry Towers Apartments, and lived there until May, 2001. She then moved to the Tibke Foster Care Home, where she lived until the time of her death. She was a member of St. Leo's Catholic Church, a former member of Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church, and served with the ladies aid and the altar society. She enjoyed playing bridge for many years, and was a member of the Drady Homemakers Club. She crocheted afghans for her children and grandchildren. Survivors: two children: Orlan Rovig and wife Mary, Minot; Laurel Carnine and husband James, Roseville, CA; five grandchildren: Tom Rovig and wife Donna; Susan Schiele and husband Lynn, both of Minot; Jeff Carnine, Roseville, CA.; Dan Carnine and his wife Jennifer, Roseville, CA.; and Connie Gulleson and husband Peder, Bismarck, ND; six great-grandchildren: Taylor, Liva, Anika and Sealy Rovig, and Kelsey and Tonya Schiele, all of Minot; one sister, Kathryn Dickinson, Minot; many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her husband, Orville, son, Gordon J., parents, Jacob and Katherina Frost; 3 brothers: Henry, William and George Frost; and 8 sisters: Margaret Schaefer, Mary Imholt, Magdalena Walsh, Anna Frost, Clara Lochthowe, Veronica Kaiser, Christina Lee and Gertrude Korgel. Funeral Mass: Tuesday, September 3, 2002, 10:00 a.m. at St. Leo's Catholic Church, Minot. Rosary Recitation: Monday, September 2, 2002, 7:00 p.m. at Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Minot.
