Donald "Pee Wee" Roush, 94, Minot, died Friday, August 31, 2007, in a Minot hospital.

Donald Vernon "Pee Wee" Roush was born on December 17, 1912, in Kenyon, MN, the son of Thurman and Emma (Wille) Roush. He moved with his family to Minot, ND, in 1914, where he graduated from Minot Model High School.

As a young man, he was a carrier for the Minot Daily News. Don also worked for a parcel delivery service, later buying the 74 delivery service, which he owned and operated until entering the United States Army on March 26, 1942. He hit the beach of Normandy on D-Day, and was in the Battle of the Bulge with Gen. Patton's 358th Infantry Division. He also saw action in Northern France, Rhineland and Central Europe. He proudly served his country during WWII and was awarded the Bronze Star Medal as well as the Good Conduct Medal. Pee Wee was honorably discharged on October 23, 1945. Following his discharge, he returned to Minot.

On August 12, 1949, Don was united in marriage to Genevieve 'Gen" Vangen at Zion Lutheran Church in Minot. They made their home in Minot, where he worked for the Railroad Express for 16 years. He also worked a short time for Minot Restaurant Supply. Pee Wee then worked at the Minot Elks Lodge for 17 years, before retiring in 1980. He also was owner and operator of the North Hill Bottle Shop in Minot for a short time. Gen died June 29, 1995. He had continued to reside in his home in Minot until 2004, when he moved in with his sister, Pearl, to help care for her until her passing. In April of 2006, he moved to Brentmoor in Minot.

He was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church, lifetime member of the Minot Elks Lodge, the Veterans of Foreign Wars, the American Legion, the Golden K Kiwanis, and was a 65 year charter member of Eagles Aerie, all of Minot.

Surviving family includes: nephew, Kim (Toni) Cady and their children, Travis and Marisa Cady, all of Minot; niece, Jan (Dan) Radcliffe and their children, Jaden and Brynn, all of Fargo, ND.

Pee Wee was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Gen; brother, Arthur; and sister, Pearl Anderson.

Funeral: Friday, September 7, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. at Zion Lutheran Church, Minot.

Visitation: Thursday, September 6, 2007 from noon until 7 p.m. at the Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Minot.

Burial: Rosehill Memorial Park, Minot.

In lieu of flowers memorials are preferred to the Zion Lutheran Church Building Fund.
