Richard "Rick" Rosenthal 1953 - 2006

Richard "Rick" Rosenthal, 52, 192 Ryan St. Maxbass, ND, died peacefully Thursday, February 9, 2006, in a Minot hospital surrounded by his family after years of a courageous battle with diabetes and kidney disease.

He was born on May 21, 1953, in Minot, ND the son of Harold and Clarice (Roberts) Rosenthal. He was raised in Eckman and Maxbass and graduated from Maxbass Public School. During his younger years he worked for his great uncles on the farm and later for Farden Construction.

In 1971, Rick attended Wahpeton State School of Science where he earned his certificate in Auto Body Repair. He went to work briefly for Meland's Auto Body in Jamestown, later Westlie Motor Company Body Shop in Minot and then Mel's Concrete in Minot .

Rick married JoAnn Robillard on July 13, 1979, in Maxbass. The couple lived in Minot until 1980, when they moved to Maxbass where he opened Rick's Body Shop.

He was a member of the English Lutheran Church in Maxbass where he was active on the church council. He also served several years on the Maxbass City Council as a council member and as Mayor.

Rick was known for his great sense of humor, love of family and friends, enjoyment of sports, the outdoors, restoring cars, and rock and roll music. He will be greatly missed by those who loved and knew him.

Survivors: wife of 26 years, JoAnn, Maxbass; sons, Aaron Rosenthal, Minot, Andy Rosenthal, Bismarck; sisters, Cherie (Mark Gladback) Branson, and Lori (Gene) Nettleton, all of Minot, and Lisa (Scott) Wies, Duluth, MN; brothers-in-law, Alan (Carla) Robillard, Minot, Richie Robillard, Westhope, ND; mother and father-in-law, Corky (Delores) and Archie Robillard, Maxbass; nieces and nephews, Ryan Branson, Minot, Nathan (Emily) Branson and their son Owen, Fargo, ND, Mickenzie Branson, Minot, Claudia Nettleton, Minot, Kayla Wies, Duluth, MN, Tara (Nathan) Lillemon, Jacksonville, FL, Jordan Robillard, St. Cloud, MN and Paige Robillard, Minot; aunts and uncles, Bernard (Carol) Rosenthal, Minot, Peggy (Earl) VanHorn, Maxbass, Jim (Janet) Roberts, Maxbass, Terry (Sue) Roberts, Minot, Joann (Alfred) Teigen, Wahoo, NE, Bonnie (Larry) Job, Everest, KS, Sandy (Virgil) Gilseth, Kenmare, Betty Kalhagen, Devils Lake, ND, Della (Johnnie) Smith, Rapid City, SD and numerous cousins. Special friend of the family Mary Ann Fitchner, Minot. He was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Connie and niece, Alicia Branson.

Funeral Service: Monday, February 13, 2006, 11 a.m. at English Lutheran Church, Maxbass

Visitation: Today, Sunday, February 12, 2006, from Noon until 5 p.m. at the Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Minot
