Mabel was born January 13, 1914, in rural Glenburn ND, the daughter of Fred and Julia (Christianson) Anderson. She was raised in Glenburn and graduated from Glenburn High School. She attended and graduated from Minot State Teacher's College and began teaching in country schools. Mabel married Robert Wilfred Grasmoen in 1938. They made their home in Minot and in 1947 she began teaching with the Minot Public School System. She taught at Lincoln Elementary until her retirement in the 1970's. R.W. Grasmoen died December 27, 1946. On December 27, 1954, she married Jean Romine who later preceded her in death. Mabel was a member of Augustana Lutheran Church, Minot, and was active in many of the women's groups in the church, including the altar guild, the women's circle and the quilting group. She was also a member of the Women's Forum while they were active. She was a member of the Trinity Auxiliary, and the North Dakota Retired Teachers Association. Survivors: Daughter, Janice M. Putz, Minot; daughter-in-law, Beatrice Grasmoen, Minot; two grandchildren, Todd (LaRae) Putz, Spokane, WA, and their children, Alissa, Amber and Taylor Putz, and Julie (Randy) Waldref, Minot, and their children, Stephanie and Paige Waldref; brother, Lester Anderson, Minot; several nieces, nephews and cousins survive. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Robert Wilfred Grasmoen and Jean Romine; son, Robert "Bob" Grasmoen; son-in-law, Leslie Putz; her parents, Fred and Julia Anderson; sister, Doris Dreyer, and sister-in-law, Borgal Anderson. Funeral: Wednesday, May 21, 2003, at 2:00 p.m., at Augustana Lutheran Church, Minot. Visitation: Tuesday, May 20, 2003, from 9:00 a.m., to 7:00 p.m., at Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Minot, ND.
