Veronique Rose Roll 1995 - 2009

Veronique Rose Roll, 13, passed away Tuesday, August 11th, 21 months after a seizure suffered on the way to church with her family led to a diagnosis of brain cancer.

Veronique Rose-Noelle was born two days before Christmas 1995. With a midwife in attendance, she was born at home to Floyd and Pamela (Hannesson) Roll, joining sisters Alexandra and Juleah.

She was baptized and celebrated First Communion at St. Leo's Catholic Church. She attended St. Leo's school, Sunnyside Elementary, and Jim Hill Middle School where she was a member of Junior Honor Society. She attained highest honors, even while undergoing difficult and frequent treatments out of state. She was creative and artistic, which led to her artwork being chosen for an exhibit at the State Fair. When she was 9, through her participation in Northern Visions, Senator Byron Dorgan chose her painting to hang in his Minot office for the year. She wrote poetry and recently wrote poems to express her journey with cancer.

Veronique may have seemed reserved and even shy in unfamiliar settings, yet her family and closest friends knew that a boisterous laugh, a wonderful sense of humor and fun was beneath it all. She was a great friend. The evidence is in the great friends she had, especially Faith Smith and Elizabeth Caldwell, who through the good times and the bad, were with her all the way. And Alexus Renshaw, whose family moved to Texas in 2007, returned to Minot both this year and last year to spend the entire summer with Veronique and help her family.

She is survived and missed by her parents: Floyd Roll and Pamela (Neil) Albright; her sisters "Al" and "Jules", her paternal grandmother Rose Roll; maternal grandparents and step-grandparents, Judy (Gerald) Koland, Lee (Connie) Hannesson, Judy Albright; niece, Isabella Roll; aunts and uncles, Ken (Marilyn) Roll, Sharon (John) Gerle, Alex Roll, Karen (John) Hager, John Roll, Brad Hannesson; cousins, Joshua and Justin Roll, Michelle Schei and Angela Gerle, Miranda and Lucas Hager, Abigayle and Noah Hannesson.

Preceding her in death was her paternal grandfather, Alex Roll.
