Margaret Rogers 1920- 2010

Margaret Rogers PhotoMargaret Rogers, 90, Minot, ND, passed away Saturday, April 3, 2010, at ManorCare Health Services in Minot.

Margaret Louise Thomas was born March 7, 1920, a daughter of Allen and Jean (Scott) Thomas, in Mohall, ND.  She graduated from Garrison High School in 1939. During her high school years, she had received many ribbons for her singing talent.

Margaret married Larry Rogers November 25, 1945, in Minot, ND. While Larry was in the Navy, they lived in San Francisco, CA, where she worked at the San Francisco Naval Shipyard. In 1950, they moved back to Minot, where she worked for KCJB, St. Croix Motors, H&R Block and as an independent tax preparer. Larry passed away January 5, 1990. She continued to reside in Minot.

She and Larry were members of the NODAK Racing Club, where they served as secretary and treasurer. Margaret was the secretary of the Dakota Terrace Apartments, was a member of the Minot Planning Commission, and the Silver Connection Club. She also volunteered as a tax preparer at the Minot Public Library.

Margaret made many lifelong friends. She and Larry fostered several children throughout their marriage. She loved to dance, travel and lived life to the fullest. Most of all, she loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.

Her loving family includes:  children, Kathleen (Stan) Solberg, Minot, Debra (Steve) Woolum, Minot, and Larry D. (Pam) Rogers, Lino Lakes, MN; grandchildren, DeWayne Durbin (Shelley Talbot), Eric Solberg, Sean (Mika Fujita) Solberg, Kyle Rogers and Chris Rogers; sister-in-law, Vera (Lawrence) Pfau, Minot; and many nieces, and nephews.

Margaret was preceded in death by her parents, Allen and Jean Thomas; husband, Larry; sisters, Edna Hendricks, Alice Ewers, and Leone Bronderslev; brothers, Scott Thomas and Eugene Thomas.

Memorial Service: Friday, April 9, 2010, at 1:00 p.m. at Zion Lutheran Church, Minot.

Interment:
  Rosehill Memorial Park, Minot, ND.

Visitation: 
There will be no reviewal but friends may sign the register book on Thursday from 2 to 7 p.m. at Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Minot.

Prayer Service
: Thursday at 7 p.m. at Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Minot.

Memorials
: are preferred to the American Cancer Society or to the American Heart Association.
