Duane T. Roerick 1950 - 2004 Duane T. Roerick, 53, 220 16th St. SE, Minot, died Friday in a Minot nursing home following a short battle with pancreatic cancer. He was born on March 25, 1950, in Harvey, ND, the son of Ambrose and Frances (Ripplinger) Roerick. His family lived in Harvey until 1956, when they moved to Minot. He was employed at Walman Optical for 15 years. He also worked at various other companies, including Monarch Concrete, the YMCA and the Minot Daily News. His most recent job was through the Minot Vocational Workshop at the Minot Air Force Base Commissary for the past four years. He was forced to retire due to ill health in January 2004. He was once married to Susan Whitted in 1970. They had one child together, Wannette, who was later adopted by Susan's husband. On December 28, 1979, he married Mavis Graber in Minot. She preceded him in death on March 2, 1999. Duane enjoyed fishing, playing cards and loved to garden. He was well known for his homemade horseradish and for hosting barbecues for family and friends. He also loved to wheel and deal at garage sales. Survivors: brothers, Amborse (Charlene) Roerick, Jr., Bismarck, Dennis (JoAnn Gilpin) Roerick, Casper (Sharon) Roerick, all of Minot and Daryl (Frances) Roerick, Bismarck; sister, Jane Korgel and husband Donald, Minot; step children, William Smith, Blaire Smith and Sharie Germain, all of Minnesota; three step-grandchildren; aunts, Maria Vetter, Harvey and Kathryn Ripplinger, Bowden, ND; uncle, Michael Ripplinger, Yuma, AZ and Harvey; 11 nieces and nephews and several cousins. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mavis; parents, Ambrose and Frances Roerick and his grandparents. Funeral Mass: Tuesday, 10:00 a.m. at Little Flower Catholic Church, Minot. Prayer Service and Rosary: Monday, 7:00 p.m. at Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Minot. Visitation: Monday from noon until 7:00 p.m. at Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Minot. Burial: Rosehill Memorial Park, Minot.
