Paulino "Paul" Rodriguez-Ortiz 1931- 2010

Paulino Rodriguez-Ortiz PhotoPaulino “Paul” Rodriguez-Ortiz, 79, Minot, passed away Tuesday, November 30, 2010 in a Minot hospital with his family by his side.

Paulino was born June 22, 1931 in Orocovis, Puerto Rico to Carmelo and Jovita Rodriguez-Diaz. He was raised in Puerto Rico and was drafted at age 19 into the United States Army.

Paul served from 1951 to 1953 in the United States Army and is a veteran of the Korean War. He enlisted in the United States Air Force in 1953 and was transferred to Minot Air Force Base in 1967 to work with the Minuteman Weapon System. He retired from the Air Force as a Tech Sgt. in 1971.

On December 1, 1966, Paul was united in marriage to Kathleen Stevens. They divorced in February of 1979.  Paul completed a Bachelor of Arts degree in Business Administration from Minot State College graduating in 1979.

Paul married Charlotte Russell Johnson on January 8, 1983 in Minot. He was a devoted husband to Charlotte and father to Charlotte’s two children from a previous marriage, Micah and Joshua.
Paul worked as a civil servant at Minot Air Force Base in Base Supply from 1981 to 2002. After 22 years of service; Paul retired in June of 2002.

He was a member of St. John the Apostle Catholic Church, Minot, the Knights of Columbus, VFW, and AMVETS.

Those who shared in his life, loving wife of 27 years, Charlotte, Minot; step-children, Joshua Johnson, CA, and Micah Johnson, NC; brothers, Carmelo Rodriguez-Ortiz, Puerto Rico, Heliodoro Rodriguez-Ortiz, Puerto Rico, Anibal Rodriguez-Ortiz, FL; sister Lydia Maria Rodriguez-Ortiz, Puerto Rico.

Paul was preceded in death by his parents, Carmelo and Jovita.

Visitation:  Saturday, December 4, 2010 from 10 am until service time at Thompson Larson Funeral Home, Minot

Liturgy of The Word:  Saturday, December 4, 2010 at 1 pm in Thompson Larson Funeral Home Chapel, Minot

Burial:  Sunset Memorial Gardens, Minot
