Merlyn Rodahl, 75, Minot, ND, passed away Monday, March 24, 2008, at his home.

Merlyn R. Rodahl was born April 13, 1932, in Tioga, ND, the son of Melvin and Anna (Hoseth) Rodahl. He was reared and educated in Tioga, graduating in 1950.

Merlyn enlisted in the United States Marines April 17, 1952. He proudly served his country during the Korean War and was stationed in Japan. He was honorably discharged March 22, 1954.

Merlyn married Marlys Nelson on June 13, 1954, in Minot. They made their home in Minot, where they raised their five children. He worked in construction and in sales for many years.

After his brother's family was in a car accident in 1988, Merlyn and Marlys spent a lot of time caring for the needs of their niece and nephews, Heidi, Jamie, and Corey Rodahl.

He was a member of Christ Lutheran Church, Minot, where he helped with making the potato klub for the church's booth at the Norsk Hostfest.

He enjoyed spending time at the Tioga farm, going to auctions, fishing, watching the Lakers, playing the accordion, and visiting. In his retirement years, he enjoyed meeting with the men at the "Round Table" for afternoon coffee.

Surviving family includes: wife of 53 years, Marlys, Minot; daughters, Londa Rodahl, Bismarck, Marcia (Sam) Haro, Williston, and Nola (David) Levison, Missoula, MT; sons, Carlyn Rodahl (Maria Adkins), and Terry Rodahl, both of Farmington, NM; grandchildren, Chelsea Rodahl, Julie Haro, Mark Haro, Malia Levison, Rachel Levison, Sharley Rodahl, and Luca Adkins; mother-in-law, Irene Nelson, Minot; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Myrna and David Blackstead, two nieces, two nephews, and several cousins.

Merlyn was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Gerry Rodahl; sister-in-law, Kathy Rodahl; nieces, Renee and Peggy Rodahl; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Jim and Shirley Beith.

Funeral: Saturday, March 29, 2008, at 10:30 a.m. at Christ Lutheran Church, Minot.

Interment: Rosehill Memorial Park, Minot, ND.

Visitation: Friday from Noon to 7 p.m. at Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Minot.
