Esther Violet Rodacker, 82, Minot, ND, died Thursday, March 15, 2007, in a Velva nursing home.

Esther was born on August 2, 1924, in Granville Township, ND, the daughter of Fredrick Jr. and Eva (Dockter) Knodel. She was reared and educated in Granville Township where she attended country school

She was united in marriage to Roy Rodacker on December 21, 1947, in McClusky, ND. The couple farmed in the Butte and Underwood areas for several years before moving to Manfred, ND. In 1960, they moved to Minot where Esther was employed at the Anderson Nursing Home, which later became the Americana Nursing Home and then Manor Care Nursing Home where after 29 years she retired. Roy passed away on May 28, 1994.

Esther loved spending time with her children and grandchildren and would often accompany them on camping and fishing trips to Lake Audubon or Lake Sakakawea. She also enjoyed embroidering and playing bingo.

She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Minot and the Minot Senior Citizens.

Survivors: daughter, Paulette (Curt) Hillestad, Minot; daughter-in-law, Judy (Kit) Alley, Martinez, CA; grandchildren, Jeffrey (Jennifer) Rodacker, Scott (Melanie) Hillestad, Mike Rodacker, Todd Hillestad, Micah Alley, and Rebekah (Steve) Twist; great-grandchildren, Corrina Rodacker, Gage Hillestad, Ensley Poindexter, Katelyn and Ashlee Twist; brother, Hilbert (Irene) Knodel, Minot; sister-in-law, Betty (Gene) Melby, Manfred, ND; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Roy, son, Tom, parents, Fredrick and Eva and brother Leonard Knodel.

Funeral Service: Monday, March 19, 2007, at 11 a.m. at Zion Lutheran Church, Minot

Visitation: Sunday, March 18, 2007, from Noon until 5 p.m. at the Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Minot

Burial will take place at 1:30 p.m. at Sunset Memorial Gardens, Minot.

Memorials preferred to the Souris Valley Care Center in Velva and Zion Lutheran Church, Minot.
