William T. Rieger • 1953- 2006 He was born on November 5, 1953 in Minot, a son of Wendelin and Emma (Schmalz) Rieger. He was raised and educated in Minot and graduated from Bishop Ryan High School. He then attended Minot State University. William was employed as a salesman for several companies in the Minot area. Most recently, he was employed with Justice Brothers, where he received the "Top Gun Award" for sales in his first year of employment. William and Vicki Besserud were married on July 17, 1981 in Minot. His greatest love was his family, with whom he loved to spend time at the lake. He enjoyed inviting friends over to watch the Boxing Main Event. He loved spending time with his sons, Rodney, Chad and Thomas and his friends hunting and fishing. He enjoyed the many pets that he had over the years. William was a member of Little Flower Catholic Church, St. Leo's Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus. He was also proud of his German heritage. He is survived by his wife Vicki; sons Rodney Halvorson of Denver, CO, Chad Halvorson of Grand Forks, ND and Thomas Rieger of Minot; grandson Kaden Halvorson; brother Bernard Rieger and his wife Elaine of Thousand Oaks, CA; sister Frieda Opitz and her husband Henry of Spring Hill, FL; mother Emma Rieger of Minot and niece Leah Rock Martin of Coon Rapids, MN. He was preceded in death by his father Wendelin Rieger and sister Barbara Rieger. William was a wonderful person to be with, whether it be on a hunting or fishing trip or just in casual conversation. His gifts of love and humor made everyone feel better for having known him. He will be greatly missed, but will never be forgotten.
