Olive A. Richter 1922 - 2007 Olive was born on October 23, 1922, in Ryder, ND, the daughter of Olaf and Augusta (Hofstad) Hjemstad. She was reared and educated in Ryder and was salutatorian at Ryder High School Graduation. After graduation, Olive attended Wahpeton School of Science where she earned her secretarial certificate. Olive worked in Rugby as a secretary for an electric company when she met Walter Richter. The couple was married on November 2, 1946, in Minot. They had three children, Cheryl, Rodney and Cristie. They lived in various locations during Walter's employment with the railroad and after his retirement in 1977, they lived in Vacaville, CA and Twin Falls, ID. Walter and Olive spent so many happy summers at their lake cabin at Little Knife Bay at Lake Sakakawea. The couple moved back to Minot in 2002. Walter died on May 23, 2005 in Minot. Olive was known for her adventurous spirit, dedication to her family and excellent homemaking skills. She played golf, bingo, sang in choirs and loved to travel. Her baking, knitting, embroidery, painting and piano playing brought pleasure to her family and friends. Olive was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church in Minot, the Elkettes in Twin Falls, ID and the United Transportation Unions Auxiliary. Survivors: children, Cheryl (Roger) Juntunen, Rupert, ID; Rodney (Susan) Richter, Minot, and Cristie Richter, Eugene, OR; grandchildren, Lorelei Juntunen and Ryan Deibert, Portland, OR, Jakob Juntunen, Portland, OR, Heidi Richter, Minot, Scott Fagan, Daniel Fagan, Kansas City, KS, Samuel Richter, and Jenna Filz, Minot; great-granddaughter, Aili Deibert; brothers, Kenneth (Virginia) Hjelmstad, and Stanley (Eloise) Hjelmstad, Minneapolis, MN; and several nieces nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter, her parents, sister, Helen Schubert, and brothers, Orlando, Joe, Louie, and Arnie Hjelmstad. Funeral Service: Friday, April 20, 2007, at 10 a.m.
