John L. Richardson • 1924 - 2011 The 7th of 16 children, John was born April 10, 1924 to Ralph and Lena (Parker) Richardson in Lansford. John graduated from Lansford High School in 1942. He enlisted in the Marines in June 1945 and served nine months during the Occupation of China and was honorably discharged in September of 1946. John married Phyllis Fields on September 15, 1949. They lived in Lansford, where he drove a bulk oil truck from 1958 to 1984. In 1988 they moved to Minot. John was a member of Vincent United Methodist Church, Minot. While living in Lansford he was a member of the Lansford Methodist Church, where he served as church trustee. He was a member of the Lansford High School Athletic Hall of Fame and the North Dakota Amateur Basketball Hall of Fame. John served on the Lansford Park Board and was a long-time member of the American Legion, Kenneth L. Renz Post, Lansford, ND. He was a former member of the Moose Lodge in Minot. John had a great sense of humor and loved pulling pranks on his family. He was a wonderful man who will be deeply missed. Those who shared in his life, Wife, Phyllis, Minot; sons, Rourke (Audrey) of West Fargo, ND; Kent (Sue) of Farmington, MN; and Kory (Laurie) of Dunn Center, ND; daughters, Paula (Jerry) Peterson, Missoula, MT; Rhonda (Jeff) Jacobs, Bismarck, ND; and Angela (Kent) Henne of Minot; 12 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild; brothers, Robert and Harley (Rosie), Beloit, WI; Donald (Marie)00, Minot, ND; Floyd, Mandan, ND; sisters, Phyllis (Al) Clark, Hemet, CA; Doris Herndon, Paradise, CA; seven sisters-in-law; three brothers-in-law and many nieces and nephews. John was preceded in death by his parents; sons, Ryan and Wade; brothers, Buddy, Raymond, Ordy and Harry; sisters, Dorothy, Lois, Hazel, Mildred, and Donna; mother-in-law, father-in-law, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law. Funeral: Wednesday, September 28, 2011 at 1:00 p.m. at Vincent United Methodist Church, Minot, ND. Visitation: Tuesday, September 27, 2011, from 2:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Minot, ND. Burial: Wednesday at 3:45 p.m. at the Lansford Cemetery, Lansford, ND.
