Eva Ellen Rice, 95, Minot, formerly of Denbigh, ND, died Thursday, March 6, 2008 in a Minot nursing home.

Eva E. Leckron was born July 1, 1912 in Denbigh, ND, the daughter of Noah and Winnie (Duncan) Leckron. She attended country school in the Denbigh area and later attended school in Denbigh.

On October 19, 1933 Eva married Theodore J. Rice in Surrey, ND. They made their home in the Denbigh area, where they farmed and raised their family. Eva was clerk for Denbigh Township for numerous years. Her husband Ted passed away on May 28, 1977. She continued to live on the farm until 1989, when she entered ManorCare Health Services in Minot, where she since had lived.

The Rice family would like to thank the nurses and staff at ManorCare for the extraordinary care Eva received during her stay there.

Those who shared in her life, Son, Robert "Sonny" Rice, Towner, ND; daughters, Ruby Banchy, Indianapolis, IN and Joyce (Bill) Nissen, Minot; grandchildren, William (Peggy) Nissen and Machelle (Kevin) Howe, all of Minot, April (Aaron) Boatright, Lockport, Ill, Barry Banchy, Indianapolis, IN, John (Suz) Banchy, Wyoming, OH, Bonny (Kevin) Carpenter, Avondale, AZ, and Laura (Rick) Wells, Carmel, IN; great-grandchildren, Matt Nissen, serving in Iraq, Levi and Evan Nissen, both in Minot, Hannah and Nickolas Boatright, both in Lockport, Ill., Rebecca and Carolina Wells, both in Carmel, IN, Jerry and Marie Banchy, both in Wyoming, OH and Heather Howe, Grand Forks, ND; brother, Edwin Leckron, Rugby, ND; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins survive.

Eva was preceded in death by her husband, Theodore John Rice; son-in-law, Mark Banchy; grandson, Jerry Banchy; parents, Noah and Winnie Leckron; brother, Elza Leckron and sister, Esther Rice.

Funeral: Monday, March 10, 2008 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Minot.

Prayer Service: Saturday, March 8, 2008, at 11:00 a.m. at Thompson-Larson Funeral Home Chapel, Minot.

Visitation: Saturday, March 8, 2008, from 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and Sunday, from noon to 5:00 p.m. all at Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Minot.

Burial: Union Cemetery, Towner, ND in the spring.

In lieu of flowers memorials are preferred to St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Minot, or to Prairie Winds Cemetery, P.O. Box 494, Towner, ND 58788.
