Loren L. Redding 1929 - 2010

Loren Reddig PhotoLoren L. Redding, 80, Minot, formerly of Lansford, died Friday, May 7, 2010 in a Minot hospital.

Loren Leslie Redding was born November 27, 1929 at home in Ward County near Minot, ND.  He was the son of Reuben and Hattie (Mills) Redding.  He was raised in the Sawyer/Velva area and attended school in Sawyer and Mill Valley, CA.

On July 13, 1953 Loren was united in marriage to Bernice L. Bloms at St. Leo’s Catholic Church, Minot, ND.  They made their home in Minot where Loren was employed by the Westlie Motor Company.  In 1964 they moved to Lansford, ND where they farmed until 1980.  In addition to farming, Loren was Parts Manager at Sagsveen and Lee Implement and later with Lee Brothers, Inc of Lansford and Mohall, retiring in 1991.  They remained in Lansford until 2006 when they returned to Minot.

Loren served in the US Army Reserve from 1950 to 1956.  In 1952, Loren joined the Minot Nodak Race Club organizing committee and in 1987 was inducted into the Nodak Speedway Hall of Fame.

Loren was currently a member of Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church, Minot, a member of the Knights of Columbus and the Lansford Threshers and Historical Association.  He was a former member of the St. John’s Catholic Church of Lansford.

Left with memories are his wife of 56 years, Bernice; son, Jim (Ellen) Redding of Minot, ND; grandchildren, Justin Redding, Grand Forks, ND and Sarah Redding, Minot ND; brother, Wayne (Edna) Redding of Velva, ND; half sister, Marge (George) Eastman of Renton, WA; sisters-in-law, Peggy Redding of Sawyer, ND.  Numerous nieces and nephews also survive.

Loren was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Edward, Raymond and Roy Redding; and sister-in-law, Vivien Redding, Flora Redding and Pauline Redding.

Mass of Christian Burial:  Wednesday, May 12, 2010 at 10:30 a.m. at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church, Minot.

Visitation:  Tuesday May 11, 2010 from 2:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Minot.

Vigil Prayer Service:  Tuesday May 11, 2010 at 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

Private Family Burial:  Rosehill Memorial Park, Minot.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to an organization of the donor’s choice.
