Through the years she continued to be a loving parent and a role model for the over 1400 foster children she cared for. Ray died on April 27, 1984, in Minot.

She was a former member of the Minot Reformed Church for many years. After the death of her husband Ray, she joined First Presbyterian Church in Minot.
