Mary Ann Ramsdell 1934 - 2003

Mary Ann Ramsdell, 68, 305 8th Ave. NE, Minot, died Saturday, January 18, 2003, in a Minot hospital.

She was born in Traverse County, Wheaton, MN, on February 26, 1934, the daughter of Victor and Anna (Wagner) Johnson. She moved with her parents from Wheaton, MN, to Norma, ND. She attended Norma School and was the first person to graduate from Norma High School in 1952. She married Deral Ramsdell on October 7, 1953, in Norma. They lived and farmed in Fairbanks Township, Renville County for many years. Her husband, Deral, died on October 14, 1991. She continued to live and operate the farm with her son, Deral, Jr., until 1994. She moved to Minot, and then to Moorhead, MN, where she lived for a time. She returned to Kenmare and lived in the Kenmare Baptist Home and the Kenmare Skilled Care Unit. She then moved to Trinity Nursing Home in Minot, and lived there until the time of her death.

She was a member of Nazareth Lutheran Church, Kenmare, and served with the Ladies Circle. She served as Fairbanks Township Assessor for several years. She was very active in the American Legion Auxiliary and the ND Democratic Party. Mary Ann was an outdoors person and loved to be involved with nature and the farm. She was an avid hunter, enjoyed fishing and visiting with friends and neighbors. She loved the time spent with her grandchildren and being involved in their activities. She made many embroidery and latch hook pieces in her spare time.

Survivors: Sons, Deral Ramsdell, Jr. and wife Joann, Minot, and Craig Ramsdell and wife Jeanette, Moorhead, MN; three grandchildren, Timothy Ramsdell, Andrew and Elizabeth Lynch; special friend, Eugene Close; two uncles, Joe Wagner and wife Marvel, Morris, MN, and Leonard Wagner and wife Beverly, Dilworth, MN; one aunt, Doris Hammerstein, Minneapolis, MN; good friends, Joe Uselton and wife Wendy. Her husband, parents, and one infant brother, Dale, preceded her in death.

Funeral Service: Wednesday, January 22, 2003, 2:00 p.m. at Nazareth Lutheran Church, Kenmare, ND.

Visitation: Tuesday, January 21, 2003, from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Kenmare, ND.

Burial: Lakeview Cemetery, Kenmare, ND.
