Donald Rademacher 1926 - 2010

Donald Rademacher PhotoDonald Rademacher, 83, Minot, ND, formerly of Foxholm, ND, died Saturday, July 31, 2010, in a Minot hospital.

Donald Francis Rademacher was born October 23, 1926, on the family farm located in Kirkelie Township of Ward County, near Foxholm, ND, a son of Frank and Elizabeth (Schmitz) Rademacher. He was raised in the Foxholm area and educated in Foxholm.

He was drafted in the United States Army on November 28, 1945, and was honorably discharged July 17, 1946.  

Don married Epilonia Philomena “Appie” Wald June 21, 1950, at St. Leo’s Catholic Church, Minot. They made their home on a farm located in Kirkelie Township of Ward County, near Foxholm, ND, where operated a dairy and raised beef cattle with their son who joined the operation in 1972. They grain farmed with his brothers for many years and with their son in more recent years. They made their home on the farm until 1981, when they moved to Minot. Appie passed away August 11, 2009. He was a member of Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church, and the Knights of Columbus, both of Minot. He was a former member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Foxholm, the Holy Name Society, the Eagles Aerie, and the Moose Lodge. He served on the board of directors for the Minot Farmers Elevator and was a 4-H Leader.

Don enjoyed farming, talking about farming and anything else that had to do with farming. A succession of dogs on the farm were his much loved and faithful companions. Most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Surviving family includes:  children, Daryl (JoAnne) Rademacher, Foxholm; and Judy Bloms, Minot; grandchildren, Darick Rademacher and Wade Rademacher; Jennifer (Nick) Bormann, Ellen (Chris) Warner, Kent (Dena) Bloms, and Timmy Anderson; great-grandchildren, Brianna and Dustin Rademacher; Jacob and Marlee Bormann; Beckett and Taeson Warner; and Keaton and Owen Bloms; brothers, Art (Lois) Rademacher, Foxholm; and Walter Rademacher, Foxholm; sister, Darlene (Robert) Berry, Sebeka, MN; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.          

Donald was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Appie; granddaughter, Missi Rademacher; and sister-in-law, Ann Rademacher.      

Mass of Christian Burial: Thursday, August 5, 2010, at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church, Minot.

Interment:
  Thursday at 1:00 pm at St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery, Foxholm, ND.

Visitation: 
Wednesday from 3 to 7 p.m. at Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Minot.
