Merlyn Quam 1943 - 2002 Merlyn Quam, 58, 1801-125th St. SE, Minot, died Monday, April 29, 2002 at his home. Merlyn was born on December 19, 1943, in McVille, ND, the son of Sever J. and Alice O. (Luchsinger) Quam. The family moved to Surrey when he was 13 and he was reared and educated there. He entered the US Army in 1965 and was stationed in Germany and was discharged in 1967 and returned to Minot where he worked for Peterson Excavating and later managed Service Auto Glass in Minot. He then moved to Minnesota where he worked for Harmon Glass as a glass mechanic. On August 19, 1974, in Towner, ND, he married Nancy Olson. He went to work at Jim Ryan Chevrolet and then Harmon Glass again. They later moved to Alamo, ND, where he worked at Basin Auto Glass in Williston. They later moved back to Minot where he worked for Mulbradt's Hardware Hank, Home of Economy, Jerome's Construction, MAC's Construction and M & E Transfer. He was forced to retire in June of 2001 because of ill health. Merlyn is survived by, wife, Nancy, Minot; brother, Elwyn Quam, Minot; sister, Meridell Collee and her husband, David, Salem, Oregon; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Erin Quam, parents, Sever and Alice Quam and a sister, Sylvetta Strube. Funeral: The Church of the Brethren, Surrey on Friday, May 3, 2002 at 10 a.m. Burial: Rosehill Memorial Park, Minot on Friday, May 3, 2002 at 1 p.m. Visitation: Thursday, from 9 a.m. until 7 p.m. at the Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Minot, ND.
