Edith Josephine Pulvermacher, 87, Crosby, formerly of Sherwood, ND, died Sunday, December 29, 2002, at a Crosby nursing home.

She was born September 19, 1915, in Slope County, ND, the daughter of Arvid and Hannah (Hansen) Lund. Hannah died when Edith was only three years old. Her father, Arvid and foster parents, Ed and Lena Synsby and John and Thora Amundson raised her. She attended Slope County School.

She married Walter Pulvermacher in 1933. The couple was later divorced. In 1942, Edith married James Myler. While married to James, the couple lived in Michigan and Edith worked in a defense plant as a "Rosie Riveter" during World War II. She also worked part-time at a peach orchard with prisoners of war. James and Edith later divorced.
In 1947, Edith married Clifford Pulvermacher. The couple made there home in Sherwood, ND. While in Sherwood Edith was a member of Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Sherwood where she was a Sunday school teacher and served on several church boards. Edith moved to Kenmare in 1976 and in 1978, she entered the Kenmare Baptist Home. In 1979, she moved to Crosby and entered the Good Samaritan Center.
Edith loved nothing better than being able to help someone else. When she saw something that had to be done she took charge and did it with great vest.
