Edith Josephine Pulvermacher
1915 - 2002
Edith Josephine Pulvermacher, 87, Crosby, formerly of Sherwood,
ND, died Sunday, December 29, 2002, at a Crosby nursing home.
She was born September 19, 1915, in Slope County, ND, the daughter
of Arvid and Hannah (Hansen) Lund. Hannah died when Edith was
only three years old. Her father, Arvid and foster parents, Ed
and Lena Synsby and John and Thora Amundson raised her. She attended
Slope County School.
She married Walter Pulvermacher in 1933. The couple was later
divorced. In 1942, Edith married James Myler. While married to
James, the couple lived in Michigan and Edith worked in a defense
plant as a "Rosie Riveter" during World War II. She
also worked part-time at a peach orchard with prisoners of war.
James and Edith later divorced.
In 1947, Edith married Clifford Pulvermacher. The couple made
there home in Sherwood, ND. While in Sherwood Edith was a member
of Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Sherwood where she was a Sunday
school teacher and served on several church boards. She was also
a member of the Prairie Pioneer Homemakers and the Silver Link
Rebecca Lodge all of Sherwood. Clifford died in 1962. Edith moved
to Kenmare in 1976 and in 1978, she entered the Kenmare Baptist
Home. In 1979, she moved to Crosby and entered the Good Samaritan
Center.
Edith loved nothing better than being able to help someone else.
When she saw something that had to be done she took charge and
did it with great vest. Edith's Norwegian heritage was very important
to her especially after she located her mother's family in Norway
and visited them three times on extended holidays. Edith loved
and cherished her family very much.
Survivors: daughters, Mavis Davis, Wyoming, MI and Sandra
Wallstrum (Merle), Kenmare, ND; grandchildren, John Davis (Cheryl),
Kerry Davis and Randy Davis (JoEllen) all of Grand Rapids, MI,
Sherry Rose (Bob), Detroit, MI, Kenneth and Angela Davis, both
of Grand Rapids, MI, Tim Wallstrum (Ruth), Kenmare, Jeffrey Wallstrum
(Tracey), Minot and Marcie Wallstrum, Fargo, ND; great-grandchildren,
Chelsea, Matthew, and David Davis, Jacob and Lynn Rose, Blake,
Leslie, Tayler, Kira, Grey, Beca and Janell Wallstrum; and nephew,
Elmo Amundson, MN; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins in the
U.S. and Norway also survive.
She was preceded in death by her husbands, son, Clifford Douglas
Pulvermacher, grandson, Donavan Wallstrum, parents, foster parents,
nephew, Alvin Amundson and son-in-law, John Davis.
Funeral Service: Saturday, January 4, 2003, at 11 a.m.
at Our Savior's Lutheran Church, Sherwood.
Visitation: Friday, January 3, 2003, from 4 p.m. until
6 p.m. at the Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Kenmare.
Burial: Sherwood Cemetery, Sherwood, ND. Burial will take
place in the spring.
