John "Jack" Pritschet
1924 - 2008 John "Jack" Pritschet was born March 30, 1924, the son of George and Mary (Sailer) Pritschet on the Pritschet family homestead located in Kirkelie Township of Ward County, rural Foxholm, ND. He was raised on the family farm and was educated at Foxholm School, graduating in 1942. Jack enlisted in the United States Army January 17, 1945. He proudly served his country during WWII and was honorably discharged November 24, 1946. Following his discharge from the Army, he returned to North Dakota and assisted his parents with the operation of the family farm. He and his brother, Richard, eventually purchased the Pritschet family farm in 1955, and farmed together for 38 years. They farmed small grains and raised livestock. After his brother, Richard, passed away, he purchased the remaining half of the land. He remained active in farming up until 2006, when he was assisting his great-nephew, Daryl. He continued to reside on the farm until March of 2007, when he moved to Somerset Court. He was an active member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Foxholm, where he served as a lector. He also was a member of the Knights of Columbus and its Holy Name Society and served as the clerk for Kirkelie Township, treasurer for the Citizens United to Save the Valley Board, and was on the Cenex Farmers Union Board for several years. He enjoyed playing pool, darts, cards and hunting. Surviving family includes: sister, Elizabeth "Moudeen" (Lawrence) Meyer, Minot; sisters-in-law, Dorothy Pritschet, Minot, Barbara Pritschet, Elkhart, IN, and Mildred Pritschet, Brainerd, MN; numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, great great-nieces, great great-nephews, and cousins. Jack was preceded in death by his parents; infant brother, George; brothers, Andrew, Leo, Aloys "Bill", Richard, Francis "Frank", and Bernard; sisters, Ann Roles, Mary Stammen, Martha Leggate, and Rosa Loraas. Funeral: Friday, January 25, 2008, at 10:30 a.m. at
