Gary L. Pretzer 1941 - 2008 Gary Lee Pretzer was born August 21, 1941 in Minot, ND, the son of Frank and Adeline (Markle) Pretzer. He attended grade school in Minot and later country school near Simcoe, ND. He graduated from Velva High School. Gary was once married to Donna Pfeilschiefter. They had three children, Torey, Julie and Todd. During his working years, Gary was a grain elevator manager, addiction counselor, agri-business sales representative for Cargill and a real estate agent. Gary married Karen (Haugen) Ritterman on August 10, 1981, and they resided in Minot. They moved from their home in Tierrecita Vallejo after the 2002 anhydrous ammonia spill when Gary was then able to actively pursue his special interests in family, friends, vehicles, the Minnesota Twins and Vikings. Gary moved to the Trinity Nursing Home in July, 2008. Gary's family and friends had always known him as a fun loving person. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, golf, farming and all sports. He especially enjoyed being with his children and grandchildren. During his illness he amazed his family and friends with his unwavering positive attitude and faith. He was strengthened by visits with family and friends and with his personal physician and friend, Charles Swenson. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Minot. Those who shared in his life, loving wife, Karen, Minot; children, Torey (Theresa) Pretzer, Horace, ND, Julie (Bruce) Pretzer Wheeler, Epping, ND, Todd (Donnette) Pretzer, Fargo, ND; stepdaughter, Rhonda (Mike) Dorrance, Page, ND; 20 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; brother, Ronnie (Diane) Pretzer, Granville; nephew, John (Donna) Pretzer; niece, Renae (Mark) Haberman. Gary was preceded in death by his parents, Frank Pretzer and Adeline Pretzer Trana, and stepfather, Oswald Trana. Funeral: Monday, October 20, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. at First Presbyterian Church, Minot. Visitation: Monday, one hour prior to the service in the church. Burial: Monday at 1:15 p.m. at Sunset Memorial Gardens, Minot, ND. Officiant: Rev.
