Gwen Powell 1925 - 2003

Gwen Powell, 78, 310 2nd St. SE, formerly of Velva, died Tuesday in a Minot hospital.

She was born on October 31, 1925, in Columbus, ND, to Joseph Stanely and Myrtle Scott. She was reared and educated near Velva and attended school near the Truax Mines. She was once married to Steven Ell. They lived in Velva and also traveled throughout the years. Gwen worked various jobs in Minot, including as a housemother at the YWCA and miscellaneous jobs at St. Joseph's hospital. She was once married to Wayne Powell.

She was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Minot. She was also a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and T.O.P.S of Minot and was also a Senior Companion.

Survivors: sons, Dennis (Betty) Ell, Velva and Steven Wayne (Mary) Ell , Trinity, North Carolina; daughter, Arlene (Mike) Kayser, Melbourne, Fl; 12 grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; seven step-grandchildren; brother, Clayton (Joyce) Scott, Velva; sister, Peggy Boe, Minot. She was preceded in death by her sons, Micheal and Scotty Ell, parents, Joseph Stanley and Myrtle Scott, grandson, Daniel Ell, step-grandson, Donovan Sloan, brothers, Ray, Bob, Wayne and Donald Scott.

Funeral: Saturday, 10:00 a.m. at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Minot.

Visitation: Friday from 9:00 a.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Minot

Burial: Velva Cemetery, 1:00 p.m. on Saturday.
