Raymond Plesuk 1920 - 2010 Raymond was born October 24, 1920, the last of eight prairie sons born to John and Eva (Lalka) Plesuk at his parents farm one mile west of Butte, ND. As a youth he attended Butte Public School through the 8th grade. One of his fondest recollections was riding his horse and herding his father’s cows on the open prairies. As a young man he worked for many area farmers. He would also catch the freight train to Washington State and work in the apple orchards. He also spent one year in Civilian Conservation Corps the (CCC’s). On March 30, 1945, just before the end of World War II he was drafted in the Army. He was stationed in the Aleutian Islands, receiving the Asiatic Pacific Theater Service Medal and the Victory Medal and was honorably discharged on November 15, 1946. On October 9, 1947 he married Frieda Rittenbach and together they began a life of farming on his father’s homestead. They raised various small grains, chickens, turkeys and milked cows. Providing a comfortable life to raise their three children. After retirement they enjoyed many trips and bus tours traveling throughout the United States and Alaska. Ray spent almost 80 years living on and tending to his father’s homestead. Something he took great pride in. In 2002 no longer to meet the demands necessary to live in the country, Ray and Frieda moved to Minot at the Dakota Terrace apartment complex where he continued to live until June of 2010. Ray was a resident of ManorCare Nursing facility at the time of his death. Ray is survived by his wife of 63 years, Frieda Plesuk, Minot; daughters, Renae (Jim) Hamstra, Portland, OR, and DelRae (Jim) Tarasenko, Minot; son, Robbin (Susan) Plesuk, Max, ND; six grandsons, David (Heidi), Matthew (Flory) and Steven Hamstra, Jerad (Heidi) and Timothy Plesuk, and Ryan Tarasenko; two great-grandsons, Antonin and Titus Hamstra; Ray’s twin brother, Russell Plesuk; and his only sister, Evelyn Nylen; along with many nieces and nephews. Ray was preceded in death by his parents, John and Eva Plesuk; brothers, Harry, Mike, Sam, Paul, Ralph and Peter Plesuk; infant son, Mark Alan Plesuk; and grandson, Mychal Tarasenko. Funeral: Friday, November 19, 2010 at 11 am at Immanuel Baptist Church, Minot Visitation: Thursday, November 18, 2010 from 1 until 7 pm at Thompson Larson Funeral Home, Minot Burial: Friday at 2:30 at Butte Community Cemetery, Butte, ND
