Lois Pitts 1924 - 2008 Lois Ione Skauge was born on October 26, 1924, in Gardner, ND, the daughter of Alfred and Ione (Rentall) Skauge. She was raised on the family farm and graduated from Gardner High School. In 1943, she was united in marriage to Raymond Leggett. They made their home in Stanley in 1952, and in Minot in 1958. They were later divorced. In 1971, she married Ranleigh Pitts in Rapid City, SD. They made their home in Minot, where she worked as a caregiver for anybody in need. Ranleigh passed away May 8, 1987. She had continued to reside in Minot since her husband's death. She was a member of the Eagles Auxiliary #2376, where she served as Trustee for six years, and was chosen Mrs. Eagle 2002. Lois was chosen Mother of the year in 1990 and voted sister of the year in 1992. She volunteered for many charities. Surviving family includes: daughter, LoLa Rae Rogers, Tijeras, NM; sons, Richard A. Leggett and wife, Elaine, Denver, CO, Steven A. Leggett, Tijeras, NM; seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; foster daughter, Sheri Gefroh, Minot; two foster grandchildren; four foster great grandchildren; and sister, Myrna Sells, Anchorage, AK. Lois was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Ranleigh Pitts; daughter, Ione Leggett; son-in-law, Jeff Rogers; sisters, Norma Thurlow and Rita Paulsen; and brother, John Skauge.
