Helen P. Picotte 1915- 2010 Helen Pauline Overby was born December 1, 1915 in Moorhead, MN to Nels and Albina (Nilson) Overby. She was raised and educated in Moorhead and graduated from Moorhead High School. On June 4, 1941 Helen married Adrian Picotte, and to this union they had one son, Doug. Throughout Helen’s life, she made her home in several places including, Tower City, Bottineau, Breckenridge and Red Lake Falls, MN. Helen and Adrian made their permanent residence on a farm near Carpio. She worked for many years as a sales clerk at JCPenny in Minot. Helen and Adrian wintered in Arizona for several years. Adrian passed away in September of 1987. Helen continued to live on her own until the age of 90, when she moved into Emerald Court in Minot. In January of 2010 she entered the Souris Valley Care Center in Velva. Helen enjoyed reading, crocheting, sewing, gardening, playing trivia, having coffee with her friends and taking the bus to the casino. Those who shared in her life, son, Doug (Janice) Picotte, Lansford, ND; three grandchildren, Lisa (Jeff) Johnston, Minot, ND, Angie (Pat) Lavachek, Glenburn, ND, and Wade Picotte, Minot; four great-grandchildren, Joshua and Travis Johnston and Meghan and Houston Lavachek; several nieces and nephews. Helen was preceded in death by her parents, Nels and Albina; brothers, Norman, Herm, Lonnie and Alan Overby, and sister, Cora Overby. Funeral: Monday, October 18, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. at Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Minot, ND. Visitation: There will be no reviewal, but friends may sign the register Monday, one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial: Rosehill Memorial Park, Minot, ND. |
