LaVerne G. Pfau 1943 - 2004

LaVerne G. Pfau, 60, 7950 Hwy 2 East Lot 124, Minot, died Tuesday, June 22, 2004, at her home of natural causes.

She was born on October 4, 1943, in Richardton, ND, the daughter of Sebastian and Marjorie (Smith) Sitter. She was reared and educated in Werner, ND and graduated from high school there. After graduation she attended Dickinson State for two years where she earned her teachers certificate.

On August 14, 1965, LaVerne was united in marriage to Benno Pfau in Halliday, ND. In 1967, LaVerne completed her Bachelors of Science Degree in Valley City, ND, the same year their daughter, Carmen was born. The family moved to Cypress, CA where LaVerne taught for a few years before moving to Minot, in 1970, the same year their son Terry was born. LaVerne substitute taught for a couple of years before starting her teaching career at St. Leo's Catholic School. She taught 3rd grade for one year and 1st grade for 21 years. She retired from teaching in 1998, and continued to live in Minot until her death.

She was a member of St. Leo's Catholic Church and the Confraternity of Christian Mothers.

Survivors: husband, Benno, Minot; daughter, Carmen (Mark) Hoffmann, Albany, MN; son, Terry (Debbie) Pfau, Minot; grandchildren, Brittany and Nicholas Pfau, Minot; brothers, Dennis (Virginia) Sitter, Denver, CO and Timothy (Gina) Sitter, Mandan, ND; sister-in-law, Carol Sitter, Minot; nephews, Chris, Curtis, Josh and Daniel Sitter; niece, Faith Sitter. She was preceded in death by her parents, and brother Donald Cole Sitter.

Mass of Christian Burial: Monday, June 28, 2004, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Leo's Catholic Church, Minot.

Rosary Recitation and Prayer Service: Sunday, June 27, 2004, at 5 p.m. at the Thompson-Larson Funeral Home Chapel, Minot.

Visitation: Saturday, June 26, and Sunday, June 27, from Noon until 5 p.m. at the funeral home.

Burial: Rosehill Memorial Park, Minot.
