DeMaris Pfau 1925 - 2004

DeMaris Pfau, 78, Minot, died Tuesday, January 06, 2004, at a Minot foster care home.

She was born on July 5, 1925, in Surrey, ND, the daughter of August and Iva (Bauch) Grondahl. She was reared and educated in the Upham, ND area.

DeMaris was united in marriage to Harley Pfau on May 6, 1944, in Towner, ND. Following their marriage they farmed with Harley's parents in the Upham area for two years, and then moved to Minot. DeMaris was a homemaker until she went to work for Ellison's Luncheonette. She worked and managed the luncheonette for 31 years. DeMaris and Harley enjoyed camping and fishing with their friends. Harley died on January 5, 1990.

She was a member of the Moose Lodge and the Eagles Aerie. DeMaris and Harley were active members of the Polkateers where they loved to dance. In addition to being an active volunteer with her close friend Earl Vendsel at the Moose she also held office in the woman of the Moose.

Survivors: son, Garry (Barb) Pfau, Minot; daughters, Claudette (Rich) Fruhling, Minot, Charlette (Tom) Moran, Lyons, CO, and Carole (Carlie) Reum, Ronan, MT; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; sisters, Dolores (Al) Stredwick, Sawyer, ND, and DeEtte Ferguson, Minot; brothers Eugene 'Bud" (Sharon) Grondahl, Minot, and Myron Grondahl, Bismarck; numerous nieces and nephews also survive. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harley, parents, grandson, Carlie Lynn Reum, sisters, Doris and Darlene Welstad and her special friend, Earl Vendsel.

Funeral Service; Friday, January 9, 2004, at 10:30 a.m. at Christ Lutheran Church, Minot.

Visitation: Thursday, January 8, 2004, from noon until 7 p.m. at the Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Minot.

Burial: Sunset Memorial Gardens, Minot.

Memorials are preferred to the Alzheimer's Association.
