Beatrice V. Petty 1916 - 2003 Beatrice V. Petty, 86, Minot, died Monday, February 10, 2003, in a Minot nursing care facility. She was born on July 20, 1916, in Mifflinburg, PA, the daughter of Charles and Anna (Irvinl) Kempel. She was educated in the Mifflinburg area and graduated from Mifflinburg High School in 1934. She attended Pierce Business School in Philadelphia, PA, for two years. Following her education, she moved to Idaho and Washington, where she lived and worked for several years. In 1949, she moved to Minot, and worked for her father as a secretary and bookkeeper in his businesses. She also worked at Montana Dakota Utilities for several years. She married George Petty on July 12, 1966, in Minot. They moved to Salem, AR, where she wad the office manager for the county hospital for several years. Her husband, George died in October of 1972. She returned to Minot and worked for Harold's and Bader's Clothing Stores for several years. She retired in the mid 1980's and continued to live in Minot until the time of her death. She was a former member of the First Presbyterian Church, Minot. Her favorite flowers were yellow roses and her favorite song was "Yours." Survivors: two children, B. Duane Bailey and his wife Pat, Minot, ND, and Sharon Heikens and her husband Ken, Burbank, WA; five grandchildren, Brett Heikens and wife Karen, Erica Wilson and her husband Brae, Marc Heikens, Heather Bailey and Christopher Bailey; two great-grandchildren, Maegan and Braedy Wilson; sister, Myrtle Harris; several nieces and nephews also survive. Her husband, parents, and one brother, Harold preceded her in death. A private family service was held. |
