Pauline Peterson 1927 - 2010

Pauline Peterson Older photoPauline Peterson, 83, passed away on Sunday, November 14th at Trinity Homes in Minot.  Her funeral will be Thursday at 3:00 PM in Minot’s Pioneer Chapel of First Lutheran Church.

Pauline was born January 21, 1927, in Tioga, North Dakota; daughter of Peter and Lilly (Hoseth) Chrislock.  She was Baptized and Confirmed at First Lutheran Church in Tioga.  She was raised and educated in Tioga, graduating in 1945 as valedictorian of her class and proudly serving her church as their organist.  Pauline later attended college in Minneapolis for a year before marriage and WWII took her to Fort Lewis, Washington.  At that time, she worked as a telegrapher while her husband, John, served in the army.

Pauline married John Peterson, August 12, 1948 in Tioga.  Following John’s discharge from the Army, they returned to Tioga and lived there from 1952 until 1957, when they moved to Minot.  Pauline Pauline Peterson Newerdedicated her first years in Minot to raising her children.  In 1974 she started a new chapter in her life and began working in the lunchroom at Central Campus.  She loved her work there and retired after 23 years as the Lunchroom Manager (1997).

After retirement, Pauline remained for many years in her home in Southwest Minot.  She had wonderful friends and neighbors, making it easier for her to remain independent.  Pauline had great pride in her grandchildren and was blessed by their local presence.  She had a love for animals and made a happy home for several pets over the years.  She also enjoyed working in her yard and spending quality time with her neighbors, friends, and family.  Finally, with failing health and bouts with hospitalization and rehab, she became a resident of Trinity Homes (2007).  Her family, and surely Pauline, would like to thank the many caring people that helped make the best of that time in her life.

Pauline is survived by her son, Steve (Judi) Peterson, and daughter Kris (Scott) Collins; grandchildren Taylor Peterson and Paige, Mckenzi, and Tyler Collins (all of Minot); niece, Kay Chrislock (Rockford, Ill) and cousin, Jeanette Ekblad (Williston).  Leaving before her, were her mother and father, Lilly and Peter; her brothers, Stanley and Leonard; her husband of many years, John; and her daughter, Pam.

Visitation will be Wednesday, 2:00 PM until 7:00 PM at Thompson Larson Funeral Home.

The family would like memorials sent in Pauline’s name to the Souris Valley Humane Society or to the First Lutheran Church in Minot.
