Lucille Irene Peterson
1910 - 2004 Lucille Irene Peterson, 94, Minot, died Saturday, November 13, 2004, in a Minot nursing home. Lucille was born August 13, 1910, in Wilbur, ND, the daughter of Joe and Sarah (Johnson) Holmes. She was raised near Lansford and attended Blaine Consolidated School, where she graduated in 1928. She then attended Minot Normal State Teachers College and graduated in 1930. On June 26, 1941 she married Albin Peterson in Sidney, MT. They made their home on a farm southwest of Minot for 21 years, where together they raised dairy cattle and had a milk route in Minot. After Albin's death in 1962, Lucille moved to her home in Minot. Lucille was an avid reader of "true" books and history books and was a worldwide traveler. She once took her father to Norway so he could see his birthplace. In Lucille's words, "Now I have done most of the travel I wanted to do. Have read the books I wanted to read, and planted the flowers I wanted to grow. Travel, flowers and books are my hobbies." Lucille was a warm and caring person. She loved her family and friends and especially loved little children. When she saw a baby, her eyes would light up and she would hold their tiny hand and smile. Lucille will be greatly missed by all who knew her. Lucille was a member of Vincent United Methodist Church, Minot. Survivors: Sister, Marie Kragh, Minot; nieces, Joann Schmaltz, Sharilyn Ogren and Sharlene Simpson; nephews, Larry Kragh, Stuart and Shervin Holmes; numerous great-nieces and great-nephews survive. She was preceded in death by parents, husband, brothers, Roy, Paul, Harvey and Cecil Holmes. Funeral: Thursday, November 18, 2004, at 11:00 a.m., at Vincent United Methodist Church, Minot, ND. Visitation: Thursday one hour prior to the funeral in the church. Burial: Rosehill Memorial Park, Minot, ND. Officiant: Rev. Bill Bates Music: Joe Robillard, vocalist, "In The Garden"
