Luella C. Peterson • 1912 - 2003 Luella C. Peterson, 90, Balfour, died Wednesday, January 1, 2003, at the Souris Valley Care Center, Velva. Luella was born on June 14, 1912, in rural Bergen, ND, the daughter of Stephen and Gina Stevens. She was raised and educated in Bergen, and graduated from Bergen High School. She married Clarence Peterson, and they lived and farmed near Balfour their entire lives. Her husband, Clarence died in 1985, and Luella continued to live on the farm until 2001. She moved to the Souris Valley Care Center in Velva, and lived there until the time of her death. She was a member of the Balfour Lutheran Church. Survivors: Son, Jacey Peterson and wife Louise, Rapid City, SD; one grandson, Christopher Peterson and wife Jaclynn, Parker, CO; one sister, Lillian Lange, Stewartville, MN; numerous nieces and nephews also survive. Her husband, parents, and eight brothers and sisters preceded her in death. Funeral Service: Tuesday, January 7, 2002, 11:00 p.m. at Balfour Lutheran Church, Balfour, ND. Visitation: One hour prior to service time at the church in Balfour. Burial: Bergen Cemetery in the spring.
