Beverly Ann (Cook) Peterson
1948 - 2005 Beverly Ann (Cook) Peterson, 56, Bowbells, died Saturday, July 30, 2005, at Eastern Maine Medical Center in Bangor Maine following injuries sustained in a bicycling accident. Beverly was born August 26, 1948 in Minot, ND, the daughter of Lytle and Florence (Erber) Cook. She grew up on a farm northwest of Towner, ND, and graduated from Towner High School in 1966. She received her Bachelors degree and later her Masters degree in nursing from the University of North Dakota in Grand Forks. It was there where she met her husband Jeffrey Peterson. They were married on September 13, 1969 and were together for 15 years before they divorced in 1984. Beverly owned and operated the Burke County Abstract Company in Bowbells, ND for 25 years. She was always a nurse at heart and could often be found taking blood pressures, giving shots or answering health related questions in the community. She also worked at the Kenmare Community Hospital for 30 years. During the last year of her life she was a nursing professor at the University of South Dakota in Vermillion. Beverly was a devoted mother to Beryl (31) and Brendt (29). She was always there when they needed her even if it meant traveling across state lines in a blizzard. Her granddaughter, Brynann (1) was the joy of her life. Bev shared her life with Robert (Bob) Bjorgan who also has her passion for bicycling. Together they biked the Natchez Trace and made several trips including, California to Florida, Florida to North Dakota and North Dakota to Maine. It was often said that Beverly was cool in crisis. She ran a tight ship in whatever she was doing and people respected her for it. She was never afraid to speak her mind, a bit stubborn, willing to stand up for the little guy, and totally devoted to the people she loved. All in all her life should remind us all that it's never to late to follow your dream and you can do whatever you put your mind too. Beverly died doing what she loved the most with Bob at her side. Her passing has left a hole in our hearts and lives that will never be filled.
