Clinton "Pete" Petersen 1926 - 2011 Clinton Howard Petersen was born August 10, 1926, a son of Hans Christian Erhart and May (Olsen) Petersen in Makoti, ND. He was raised and educated in Makoti, and graduated from Makoti High School in 1944. On July 21, 1944, Pete enlisted into the US Army. He proudly served his country during the Pacific Theater, serving in Tokyo as a radio operator. He received the WWII Victory Medal, Army of Occupational Medal (Japan) and the Asiatic Pacific Service medal. He was honorably discharged in December 22, 1946. Following his return from the Army, Pete purchased the Reservation Exchange of Makoti. He was the owner/operator for seven years. On July 15, 1951, Pete was united in marriage to Yvonne Hanson in Bismarck, ND. In 1955, they moved to Minot, where Clinton worked for the VA Hospital. In 1957, He became Manager of the Minot Municipal Airport. He served as Airport manager for 30 years, retiring in 1987. Clinton had a passion for aviation and took great pride in owning and flying his own airplanes. He was a member of First Lutheran Church, American Legion Post #26, Lions Club, all of Minot as well as the National Rifle association. Those who shared in his life: Wife of 59 years, Yvonne Petersen, Minot; five daughters: Sherry (Bill) Fecho, Willow City, ND, Diane Petersen, Fargo, ND, Connie (Wayne) Tranby, Fargo, ND, Kim Keller, Minot, Nancy (Al) Schall, Minot; seven grandchildren: five great grandchildren: brothers: Reggie (Marge) Petersen, St. Paul, MN, Jerry (Mary) Petersen, Bismarck, ND; sisters: Alice May Simpson, Phoenix, AZ, Lois (Alger) Arness, Apache Junction, AZ, Ardis Prets, San Antonio, TX, Norine (Doug) Shamberger, Lake Alanar, CA; several nieces, nephews and cousins also survive. Clinton was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Ritchie and Darold. Visitation: Tuesday, March 8, 2011 from 4-7 at Thompson Larson Funeral Home, Minot Funeral Service: Wednesday, March 9, 2011 at 2 pm at Thompson Larson Funeral Home, Minot Burial: Rosehill Memorial Park, Minot Officiant: Rev. Donald Andrews Music Honorary Bearers: Clinton’s family and friends Active Bearers: Ryan Fecho, Chris Keller, Eric Keller, Alex Keller, Adam Tranby Military Honors accorded by the North Dakota Army National Guard. Following the graveside service there will be lunch and fellowship at Knight of Columbus Clubroom, located at 2601 North Broadway. The Petersen family would like to thank everyone for the many acts of kindness shown to them during this difficult time. Your thoughts and prayers are greatly appreciated and will never be forgotten.
