Carol Diane (Kohler) Petersen • 1950- 2011 Carol Diane Petersen was accepted into our Lord’s house on Saturday, October 8, 2011, at her home in Franklin, TN. Carol Diane Kohler was born on August 9, 1950, in Minot, to Ernest and Hilda Kohler of Benedict, North Dakota. Carol graduated from Max High School, Max, ND, in 1968, and from Minot State University with a degree in education in 1972. Carol married Robert Petersen, the love of her life, on May 31, 1975, at Concordia Lutheran Church in Benedict, North Dakota. Their son, Bryan, was born in December of 1980. The family lived in Eau Claire, Wisconsin, for 25 years before moving to Franklin, suburb of Nashville, Tennessee in 2002, for job and retirement reasons. Carol’s love of children was expressed throughout her teaching career. Carol taught at Harvey, ND, and St. Olaf’s Catholic School (Eau Claire) and Eau Claire Public Schools in Wisconsin. She was also employed at Williamson County Tennessee Public Schools and also by Franklin (Tennessee) Special School District. She worked with autistic children during her last job finally retiring in 2010 due to ill health. Carol had a special gift of making friends easily and was known for her precious smile. She loved to entertain, and she and her family traveled frequently. She also enjoyed music, especially live concerts, but most of all she loved her family and friends. Carol is survived by her loving husband, Bob, Franklin, TN, and son, Bryan, New Richmond, WI; grandson, Kaden Petersen, New Richmond, WI; mother and father, Ernest and Hilda Kohler, Benedict, ND, sisters, Trudy Smith, Murfreesboro, TN, and Peggy (Jim) Sigman, Hazen, ND; brothers, Gary (Julie) Kohler, Terry (Mary) Kohler, all of Benedict, ND, and Roger (Judy) Kohler of Pasco, WA. Also, numerous nieces and nephews, aunts and uncles were loved by Carol. She was preceded in death by her grandparents and numerous uncles and aunts. A special thank you is given to deserving family and friends for their care and thoughts of Carol during her last days. Also a very special thank you to Alive Hospice and Pastor Phillip McClain. A Funeral Service will take place Wednesday, October 12, at 11:00 am at Our Savior Lutheran Church, 5110 Franklin Pike, Nashville, TN.
