He was born on November 12, 1917, in rural Makoti, ND, the son of Martin and Charlotte (Pederson) Pederson. He was reared and educated in Makoti. As a young man he worked as a farmhand for Jack Peterson.

Sigurd married Tilda Kittleson on October 12, 1940, at Concordia Lutheran Church in Benedict. He worked for Monarch Concrete Products for 10 years, Hancock Motors for 20 years, Mattson Construction for 15 years and most recently was self-employed as an apartment manager for 20 years.

He was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church and the Eagles Aerie, Minot. He was once a member of the Elks and Moose Lodge in Minot.

Sigurd loved gardening, fishing and spending time on Lake Audubon at his cabin.

Survivors: wife, Tilda, Minot; son, Dennis Pederson (Nikki), Minot; grandchildren and great grandchildren, Christine Graves and her daughter, Sara, Charlotte, NC; Kevin (Tammy) Pederson and two sons, Dimitre and Chad, Palm Bay, FL and Kim (Martin) Aita, Fair Lawn, NJ; brother, Bjarne (Irene) Pederson, Minot; numerous nieces and nephews also survive. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Joseph, Melvin, and Norman Pederson and sister, Ruth Cross.

Funeral Service: Friday, March 19, 2004, at 10:30 a.m. at Bethany Lutheran Church, Minot with Pastor Janet-Hernes Mathistad officiating.

Visitation: Thursday, March 18, 2004, from Noon until 7 p.m. at the Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Minot.

Burial: Rosehill Memorial Park, Minot.
