Bjarne Pederson 1924 - 2005 Bjarne Pederson, 81, Minot, died Monday, November 28, 2005, in a Minot nursing home. He was born on June 13, 1924, the son of Martin and Charlotte (Pederson) Pederson. His father died when Bjarne was 4 years old. He was reared and educated in the Makoti area through the eighth grade. He then moved with his mother to Chetek, Wis., where he graduated from Chetek High School in 1942. On June 24, 1943, he enlisted into the U.S. Army. He earned the World War II victory medal, the good conduct medal, and the European-African Middle Eastern Campaign medal. He served his country until his honorable discharge on March 1, 1946. After his discharge, he worked at various factories in Fresno, Calif. In 1952, he returned to North Dakota, and was employed at the Farmers Union Grain Terminal Association plant in Minot. On May 8, 1957, he married Irene Spalla in Minot. The couple made their home in the Minot area, where Bjarne continued to work for GTA until he retired in 1985. He worked at the International Inn in Minot from 1988 until 1995. Bjarne enjoyed playing cards, Scrabble, bingo, gardening and
barbecuing. He was very good at repairing anything, restoring
items to near-new condition. He is survived by:His wife, Irene, Minot; sons: Harold Pederson, Minot and Warren Pederson, San Francisco, Calif.; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Larry, brothers, Joseph, Melvin, Norman and Sigurd; and sister, Ruth Cross. Visitation: Friday, December 2, 2005, from noon until 7:00 p.m. at Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Minot. Vigil Prayer Service: Friday, December 2, 2005, at 7:00 p.m. at the Thompson-Larson Funeral Home Chapel, Minot.
