Gladys Margaret Pautz 1913 - 2002 Gladys Margaret Pautz, 89, Flaxton, died Saturday, December 28, 2002, in a Lignite, ND Foster Home. She was born on November 19, 1913, in Norma, ND, the daughter of Fred and Emily (Ramsdell) Mattern. She attended country grade school and Tolley High School. She married William Pautz on February 8, 1934, in Bowbells, ND. They lived and farmed near Bowbells through the 1960's. They then moved to Flaxton, where they lived and she worked as a cook at the Flaxton School for many years. Following her retirement, she continued to live in Flaxton with her husband until 1999. They moved to Bowbells and then to the Kenmare Baptist Home. Her husband, William, died on February 8, 2000, on their 66th wedding anniversary. She attended the United Methodist Church, in Bowbells, and was confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church, Kenmare. In her spare time, she enjoyed crocheting and baking goodies for her family. Survivors: daughters, LaVerne Benge and husband Donald, Flaxton, and Della Soiseth and husband Roger, Williston, ND; six grandchildren, Dennis (Jodi) Benge, Bowbells, LaDonna (Kim) Erdmann, Goodrich, ND, Laurel (Terry) Wolkenhauer, Flaxton, Wade (Lisa) Soiseth, Wayne and Wayland Soiseth, all of Williston; ten great-grandchildren, Sara Esterby, Dena and Dylan Benge, Robin, Daniel and Karissa Erdmann, Jeremy Ragle, Teri (Justin) Nelson, and Brie and Brandon Soiseth; one great-great-grandson, Austin Esterby; two brothers, Lloyd Mattern, Kenmare, ND, and Leslie (Bennie) Mattern, Laurel TX; one sister-in-law, Delores Mattern, Mohall, ND. Numerous nieces and nephews also survive. Her parents, three brothers, Clarence, Lawrence and Emmet Mattern, and one sister, Joyce Mattern, preceded her in death. Funeral Service: Tuesday, December 31, 2002, at 2:00 p.m. at United Methodist Church, Bowbells, ND. Visitation: Tuesday, December 31, 2002 from 1:00 p.m. to service time at the church in Bowbells.
