Violet Agnes Parizek 1927 - 2005

Violet Agnes Parizek, 77, Minot, died Monday, May 16, 2005, in a Minot nursing home.

Violet was born on November 5, 1927, in Java, SD, the daughter of Henry and Emma (Sailer) Presler. She was reared and educated near Gackle, ND.

In the mid 50's Violet moved to Garrison, ND, where she worked as a cook/manager at the Stone Inn. She later moved to Max, ND, where she owned and operated Vi's Steakhouse. In 1962, she moved to Minot where she worked several jobs, including Newberry's at the Town & Country Shopping Center, the 52 Club, the Minot Air Force Base chow hall NCO Club Flight line, and The Air Force Base Hospital where she worked as the switchboard operator.

On October 8, 1974, she married Richard Parizek in Aberdeen, SD. Richard died on November 18, 2002.

Violet was a member of Zion Quilter, the Surrey Senior Citizens and the Parker Senior Group in Minot. She was a former member of St. Mark's Lutheran Church and Zion Lutheran Church, in Minot.

She was once married to Mathias Schlecht.

Survivors: sons, Steve Schlecht, California City, CA, and Derald (Jane) Schlecht, Burlington, ND; daughters, Luella Stevick, Sharon (Morrie) Reiser, and Donalda Schlecht-Jensen, all of Minot; six grandchildren, Dave Schlecht, Jen Benton, Kimberly and Randy Reiser, Sue Bradley, and Mandi Jensen; 11 great-grandchildren, Austin and Amanda Bradley, Jackie and Kayla Schlecht, Samuel and Haley Kuntz, Emma Reiser, Amber and Corey Bueshel, Samantha and Elyssa Benton; brother, Morris (Nellie) Presler, Lebanon, OR; and sister, Mabel Bauer, Colorado.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard, sons, Clarence D. and Gary L. Schlecht; her parents, Henry and Emma Presler, son-in-law, Roger Stevick, and brothers, Archie, Calvin and Norbert Presler.

Funeral Service: Thursday, May 19, 2005, at 10 a.m. at Trinity Homes Chapel, Minot.

Visitation: Wednesday, May 18, 2005, from Noon until 7 p.m. at the Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Minot.

Burial will take place at noon at Sunset Memorial Gardens, Minot.
