Gertrude L. Parizek 1914 - 2009

Gertrude Parizek PhotoGertrude L. Parizek, 95, Minot, ND, ND, died Monday, December 7, 2009, at Trinity Homes in Minot.

Gertrude Lavina Mogen was born May 25, 1914, a daughter of Thurston and Lena (Mellan) Mogen in Froid, MT. She was raised and educated in Froid, graduating from Froid High School.

Following her graduation, she came to Minot, ND, where she worked at various jobs. On May 25, 1943, Gertrude was united in marriage to Emil Parizek. In 1955, they moved to Harvey, where Gertrude worked as a bookkeeper for five years at the Bentz Implement. In 1967, they returned to Minot, where she worked as a bookkeeper at Magic City Lumber. Emil passed away in 1987. Following her husband’s death, she continued to reside in Minot.

Gertrude was a former member of Trinity Bethany Lutheran Church in Harvey and Zion Lutheran Church, Minot; and was currently a member of Bethany Lutheran Church, Minot.

Surviving family includes:  son; Bruce (Ivy) Parizek, Horseshoe Bay, TX; daughter, Candace Cvancara, Aurora, CO; step-son, Norman Parizek, DePere, WI; five grandchildren, Heidi (Rusty) Ardoin, Dawn (Randy) Beyreis, Andrea (Scott) Goldberg, Lora (Chad) Shirack, Brian Cvancara and his fiancé, Kathryn Bacon; seven great-grandchildren; sister, Alma Rygg, Helena, MT; and numerous nieces and nephews also survive.

Gertrude was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Emil, brother, Oscar; and step-daughter, Elvina Van Rens.

Funeral: Friday, December 11, 2009, at 1:00 p.m. at Trinity Homes Chapel, Minot

Interment:
  Sunset Memorial Gardens, Minot, ND.

Visitation: 
Thursday from 2:00 pm to 7 p.m. at Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Minot.
