Lucille Ostlund 1909 - 2004

Lucille Ostlund, 95, Fort Collins, Colorado, formerly of Minot, passed away Sunday, October 17, 2004 in Fort Collins.

Lucille Leone Ostlund was born on July 20, 1909, in Tolley, ND, the daughter of Roy Lee and Mattie Ellen (Cole) Ladd. A former resident of Minot, Mrs. Ostlund had resided in Fort Collins since December of 1999. Lucille attended high school in Kenmare, ND. She met and married Henry Ostlund on March 14, 1928, in Minot. The newly married couple moved to the Ostlund family farm near Norma, ND. The Ostlund family farm was Homesteaded by Henry's father Niels Ostlund in 1904 and is still in the family. Henry died in 1986.

Mrs. Ostlund was a Jehovah's Witness. She was a skilled and accomplished seamstress, she loved making clothing for family members and others. She especially enjoyed making stuffed dolls and animals for her children and grandchildren. She created afghans for friends and family that are treasured works of art. Her favorite season was summer. She then could work with her garden and flowers. She enjoyed, as she said, "digging in the dirt".

Lucille is survived by her daughter, Beverly (Lloyd) St. Croix, Fort Collins; grandson, Ralph Ostlund, Divide, CO; granddaughter, Charlotte Jernigan, Seattle, WA; grandson and granddaughter-in-law, Ray (Sandra) Ostlund, Downing, MO; seven great grandchildren; several great-great grandchildren; sister, Doris Pope, Twin Falls, ID; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; two sons; two grandsons; one great grandson; four sisters and three brothers.

Funeral: Friday, October 22, 2004, at 10:00 am at Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Minot.

Visitation: Thursday, October 21, 2004, from noon to 7:00 p.m., at Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Minot, ND.

Burial: Friday at 12:30 p.m., at Trinity Lutheran Cemetery, rural Kenmare.
