Mildred C. Olson 1910 - 2002

Mildred C. Olson, 92, Lignite, died Sunday, September 1, 2002, in the Kenmare Community Hospital, Kenmare, ND.

Mildred was born April 26, 1910, in Portal Township, ND, the daughter of Joseph and Mable (Richmond) Bly. She was educated in Lignite area schools.

She married Gust Olson in 1933, at Crosby, ND. They lived in Lignite, where her husband clerked in I.G. Iverson General Store for many years. They moved to Whiting, Indiana in 1935. Mildred went to beauty school and later opened her own beauty shop, which she owned and operated for 22 years. After the death of her husband in 1979, she moved back to Lignite. The last years she has been a resident at the Kenmare Hospital/Nursing Care Unit.

While in Indiana she was an active member of St. John's Catholic Church and altar society. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Lignite, until it closed.

Survivors: step-daughter, Lois (Robert) Bley, Minot; sister, Mrs. Jane McFarland, South Bend, IN; brother, Lloyd (Joy) Bly, Lignite; a number of step grandchildren, nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral: Wednesday, September 4, 2002, at 10:30 a.m., at St. John's Catholic Church, Portal, ND.

Rosary Recitation: Wednesday at 10:00 a.m., at St. John's Catholic Church, Portal.

Visitation: Wednesday, one hour prior to the service in the church.

Burial: St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery, Lignite, ND.
