Marlin L. Olson 1932 - 2004 Marlin L. Olson, 71, Granville, formerly of Southam, ND, died Wednesday, June 9, 2004, in a Minot hospital. Marlin was born November 13, 1932, at Southam, ND, the son of James and Josephine (Sime) Olson. He was raised and educated in Southam. Marlin was drafted in the United States Army on December 4, 1952 and served in Korea. On November 2, 1954 he was honorably discharged and returned to North Dakota. Marlin married Lanetta Johnson on June 22, 1958, in Pierre, South Dakota. They later moved to Granville, where he worked for the Granville Creamery. He later worked for Winger Cheese in Towner, until his retirement in 1996. Marlin enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, and in his free time he enjoyed woodworking. He was a member of First Lutheran Church, Granville, ND, and a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #756, in Devils Lake. Survivors: Wife, Lanetta, Granville; daughters, Barb Herschlip, Boise, ID, and Maretta (Duane) Swallers, Williston; sons, Duane (FayeAnn) Olson, and Dwight Olson, all of Granville; eight grandchildren, David, Alisha, Chelsy, Christopher, Chantal, Shayla, Cole and Donny; sisters, Agnes Perkuhn, Tacoma, WA, Georgina Burlingame, Steilacoom, WA, and Caroline Pederson, Bremerton, WA; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins survive. Marlin was preceded in death by his parents, James and Josephine Olson; brothers, Lawrence, Stanley, Virgil, Abner, Sidney and Sylvanis Olson. Funeral: Monday, June 14, 2004, at 10:30 a.m., at First Lutheran Church, Granville, ND. Visitation: Saturday and Sunday, from noon to 5:00 p.m., at Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Minot, ND. Prayer Service: Sunday, June 13, 2004 at 5:00 p.m. at Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Minot, ND. Burial: Granville Cemetery, Granville, ND.
