Mary Eva Olson 1920 - 2002 Mary Eva Olson, 82, 305 8th Ave. NE, Minot, formerly of Makoti, died Monday, July 29, 2002, in a Minot nursing home. Mary was born January 19, 1920, in Karlsruhe, ND, the daughter of John and Elizabeth (Miller) Dexheimer. She was raised and educated in the Karlsruhe area. She was once married to Andrew Olson. They were married November 30, 1938, in Velva, ND. They lived on the Olson farm near Verendrye for a time, then moved to McClusky were they managed a café. They moved to Turtle Lake were they ran a pool hall and café. Later they moved to Garrison where she worked in various places, before opening two cafés. The first was the bowling alley café, which she later closed, and then the Ace Café. In the late 1950's she moved to Makoti, where she helped care for Mike Boechler's family. In August of 2001, she moved to Trinity Homes in Minot, where she since had lived. She was a member of St. Elizabeth's Catholic Church, Makoti, where she served as treasurer for the ladies circle for a number of years. She was very active in leading the rosary at the church, and was in charge of bookkeeping for the church until a year ago. She was also very active in the Makoti Senior Citizens, and together with Mike they cooked at many functions at the Senior Center. For many years Mary was in charge of submitting the Makoti News to the two area newspapers, the McLean County Independent in Garrison, and the Mountrail County Record in Parshall. Survivors: Audrey (Herman) Meier, Minot; two granddaughters, Dawn (Corby) Kolar, and Kristi (Troy) Bertsch; nine great-grandchildren; sister, Rose Deibert, Minot; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins also survive. She was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Elizabeth Annie Olson; a granddaughter, Geralyn Ross; parents, John and Elizabeth Dexheimer; sisters, Lena, Viola, Flora, Agatha and Kathryn, and brothers, Tony, Leo and Dominic. Funeral: Friday, August 2, 2002, at 1:30 p.m., at Trinity Homes Chapel, Minot, ND. Visitation and Rosary recitation: Visitation will be Thursday, from noon to 7:00 p.m., with rosary recitation Thursday at 7:00 p.m, at Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Minot, ND. Burial: Friday at 3:45 p.m., at Rosehill Memorial Park
