A. Lorraine "Sis" Olson 1926 - 2006

A. Lorraine "Sis" Olson, 79, Minot, died Monday in a Minot hospital.

Lorraine was born May 9, 1926, on the railroad branch in Maxbass, ND, the daughter of Ernest and Myrtle (Klungness) Pratt. She was raised and educated in Minot and graduated from Minot High School. She worked as a telegrapher in Minot for the Great Northern Railroad.

On October 18, 1952 Lorraine married Richard C. "Bud" Olson at First Lutheran Church in Minot. Following their marriage she continued to work for the Great Northern for a couple of years. Bud died on August 25, 2005.

Lorraine was a member of First Lutheran Church in Minot and was very active in the church circles. She baked pies for the First Lutheran Church fair stand for many years and she loved going to the fair. Together, Sis and Bud made many nursing home visits and they enjoyed visiting the casinos. She sold sweaters at the Norsk Hostfest well into her 70's. In her younger years Sis was an avid bowler. She was a member of the Sons of Norway and the Royal Neighbors.

Survivors: Brothers and sister, Charles (Kathy) Pratt, Minot, Virginia (Ray) Hampton, St. Cloud, MN, James (Donna) Pratt, Bellevue, WA and Jerry (Carla) Pratt, Fargo, ND; brother-in-law, James D. (Audrey) Olson, Minot; numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews also survive.

Lorraine was preceded in death by her husband, Richard C. "Bud" Olson; her parents, Ernest and Myrtle Pratt; brothers, Richard and Donald Pratt; her mother-in-law and father-in-law, Clarence and Rose Olson; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Florence and Leonard Thornby; nephew, Roger Thornby.

Funeral: Thursday at 11:00 a.m. at First Lutheran Church, Minot, ND.

Visitation and Prayer service: Wednesday (today) from noon to 7:00 p.m. with a public prayer service at 7:00 all at Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Minot, ND, and Thursday one hour prior to the service in the church.

Burial: Rosehill Memorial Park, Minot, ND.

Memorials preferred to the First Lutheran Church Radio Fund or to Luther's Kitchen of the church.
